About me and my trailing dog.

Laurence and Samson Avatar in circle

Hi! I'm Laurence.

My interest in mantrailing began with a search for an activity to keep my agility dog's brain active while he was recovering from an injury and on lead walks. We were immediately hooked!

I adhere to the following training principles:

  • Kind: Treating every person and dog with empathy and respect to create safe and supportive learning.

  • Fair: To ensure training methods are considerate of each trailing team's unique needs and abilities.

  • Effective: Providing science-backed training using positive reward-based methods that achieve successful outcomes tailored to individual needs.

Come and join me and be fascinated by the power of your dog's nose, the benefits of bonding, enrichment, and a sense of purpose when 'working'.

About me

Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, I'm a qualified mantrailing instructor.

I compete in agility with my street-rescue dog, Samson, and we qualified for Crufts 2025.

I'm dog first-aid qualified with a current certificate and full insurance.

My dog, Samson

Samson spent the first year of his life on the streets of Bosnia. Thankfully, he was rescued, and our family adopted him in 2021. He's super-smart and food-motivated, a tricks champion, and an agility competitor.

He also loves trailing and scent detection work.

For a dog that spent the first year of his life fending for himself on the streets, he's not done badly!

Crufts 2025

Samson qualified for the Novice ABC Agility finals at Crufts following a series of 10 qualifiers across the UK in 2024. We competed in 4 and placed in 3, with a 1st, 3rd and 4th, which secured his spot in the top 15 for the semi-finals at the London International Horse Show at the Excel in December 2024.

We made the top 8 at the semi-finals to secure our place at the finals at Crufts!

There were 6,000 people in the main arena audience, and 150,000 tuned into Crufts TV. Samson kept his cool, but my nerves got the better of me! Despite a less-than-perfect couple of runs, we came away with a 2nd place in the Large Novice ABC Agility, not bad for a street dog.
